HEAR FROM COLLABORATORS: New case studies proving many motivations drive winning mergers

Community organisations merge for many reasons. Three new case studies focus on 11 independent organisations which have merged into three entities to become Choirs Aotearoa New Zealand Trust, Age Concern Auckland, and the Neonatal Trust New Zealand.

These examples represent different non-profit sectors –arts, social services, and health support, and merged for various reasons – to increase effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery, to better focus on their communities needs, to improve alignments, increase opportunities for staff, make better use of technology, and to free up time to deliver support and services.

Following the COVID-19 lockdown and its ongoing and long-term impacts on funding, many groups may be considering the possibility merging as a means of survival. We hope the stories on these 3 new organisations will assist and realistically present the challenges they overcame to reach a successful new stage in their histories.
